The upper panel is damaged and the garage door opener is installed improperly. The door closed 4 out of 6 times, but failed to close 2 times due the severe binding of the upper panel. Needs repairs and / or adjustment by qualified garage door tech.

Should I oil the chain to my garage door opener?

Should I do the same to the chain that’s on the ceiling of the garage? If so, with silione spray or something else?

Thanks to all who replied. I like mike4400’s response the best. I also like his suggestion of oiling the chain when we change our clocks. That’s a good reminder. I change the smoke detector batteries then, too. Thanks again to all.

We finally got power and the garage door opener installed. It’s called the Excelerator. It opens twice as fast a normal opener. It’s pretty sweet.
